Are you unhappy with the shape of your nose? Perhaps you feel it’s disproportionate to the rest of your face? If the size or shape of your nose is negatively impacting your self esteem then rhinoplasty surgery may be the right option for you.
Rhinoplasty, often referred to as nose reshaping surgery or a nose job is a cosmetic facial surgical procedure that changes and improves the shape of your nose, bringing it into proportion with the rest of your facial features.
Nose reshaping surgery is designed to create facial balance through correcting the following:
If you feel that any of the above describe how you feel about your nose, then rhinoplasty surgery could be the answer to getting the nose you’ve always dreamt of.
Nose reshaping surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic. There are two surgical methods for a rhinoplasty procedure: Open and closed.
Open rhinoplasty – This is where your surgeon creates a small incision at the base of your nose providing them access to the underlying structure. This is normally performed for more advanced nose reshaping procedures and will leave a small scar on the outside of your nose.
Closed rhinoplasty – During a closed rhinoplasty, incisions are only made inside the nose. Your Plastic Surgeon enters via the nostrils to reshape or remove nose cartilage as required. This minimises the visible scarring post-surgery.
It is important to understand the implications of each method including downtime, possible complications and recovery period. Each surgeon will have their own preference but will discuss with you during your consultation which technique would be most suitable for you.

As with any facial cosmetic surgery, it is of paramount importance that you attend a consultation with your Plastic Surgeon to discuss whether this procedure is right for you.
Following a nose job procedure you are likely to experience swelling in your nasal area and around your eyes. While initial swelling normally subsides within a few weeks, it can take up to a year to see the full, refined results of your procedure. During the year you will notice very small changes over time as your nose settles into it’s permanent shape.
Immediately following the surgery you will also be required to wear bandages and a nasal splint for 5-7 days post-procedure. You will need to take some time out of your daily activities in order to fully recover from your surgery however the exact amount of time will be discussed with you during your consultation.
A comprehensive aftercare package will be provided to you by your Plastic Surgeon.
