Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
Do you find your eyes constantly make you look tired or older than you feel? Your eyes are one of the first features people see, so if you’re not happy with the way they look this can really knock your self-esteem. Eyelid correction surgery is a relatively simple procedure that can help banish tired, droopy eyes for good.
What is eyelid surgery?
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery is a cosmetic facial surgical procedure designed to correct and improve the appearance of your upper and/or lower eyelids. Removing excess skin and tissue from around the eyes can result in a fresher, rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.
Eyelid lift surgery can improve a range of issues:
- Loose skin around the eyes, creating folds and wrinkles that can in some cases impair your vision
- Droopy eyelids giving a hooded appearance
- Puffy eyes
- Eye bags
- Asymmetrical eyelids
Some patients experience these issues due to the ageing process. However others are simply genetically disposed to excess eyelid skin and tissue. Regardless of the reason for your excess skin around your eyes, eyelid surgery can greatly improve their appearance and boost your self-confidence.
The blepharoplasty procedure
Blepharoplasty surgery takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete depending on whether both upper and lower eyelids are treated. Eyelid lift surgery involves removing excess skin, fat and muscle from your upper and/or lower eyelids. Incisions made by your Plastic Surgeon are discreetly hidden within the natural folds of your skin, resulting in minimal scarring.

You may also experience some blurred vision for a couple of days post-surgery as well as some dryness and itchiness.
Your surgeon will advise you on how long you need to rest following treatment however you can expect to resume your daily activities 7-10 days after treatment.
A comprehensive aftercare package will be provided to you by your Plastic Surgeon.
