Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty, also known as upper eyelid surgery or upper eyelid blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that involves removing excess skin, muscle, and fat from the upper eyelids to improve the appearance and function of the eyes. It is a cosmetic procedure commonly performed to address drooping or sagging upper eyelids, which can result from aging, genetics, or other factors.

What is Upper Blepharoplasty surgery?

During upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, allowing the surgeon to remove or reposition excess skin, muscle, and fat as needed. The incision is usually well hidden in the eyelid crease, and the scars tend to fade over time. The goal of upper blepharoplasty is to create a more youthful and refreshed appearance of the upper eyelids, restore a natural eyelid contour, and improve vision if the excess skin is obstructing the field of vision.

Why have this surgery?

Patients choose to have an Upper Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) because they can be upset with their eye appearance which affects the whole face. This can be genetic or caused by sun exposure, weight loss or multiple other factors.

The heaviness from excess skin / fat can pull at the eye area, causing under eye bags and hooded eyes.

The procedure

Under local anesthetic, the procedure involves making small incisions at the corner of the eye causing a concern (some patients can choose to have just one eye treated or both). Using the incision the excess skin / fat will be removed.

This procedure takes one hour and any incisions made will be minimal and scarring kept minimal.

Patients may notice slight bruising after the procedure but this will subside in due course. All aftercare including pre care instructions will be discussed on initial consultation.
